Week 8
Wow. How
time flies! I cannot believe I have one
more week til the end of my first year in the Faculty of Education! One more to go…. Patience is a virtue….
Hockey
update! Well regular season has almost
come to an end! Darren has one more game
tomorrow – Game 3 vs Killarney. They won
Game 1, then in Game 2 they were up 3 – 1 after the second! That’s when I finally arrived at the rink
bringing them my plethora of bad luck… yes… they ended up losing the game! Now onto Game 3 tomorrow… they better win, or
the coaches will have coronaries! The
kids should have won Game 2, but… you know… kids….
Trevor
travelled all the way to Swan River, just to lose the game in OT, but I am just
glad that I didn’t have to go that far in one day! Now we are just in the plans for figuring out
what food we need to send with his team when they go to Provincials near
Winnipeg next weekend. They are
travelling as a team, staying as a team and all the parents just need to drop
them off, send food, watch the games, and pick them up at the “designated spot”
after the weekend is over! Will be a
different experience for the parents and for some of the boys. My child will be EXTATIC that he is on his
own! Darren has Provincials with the Pee
Wee team as well that weekend in Deloraine, so we will be staying at home. At least I don’t have any homework to do that
weekend! Just planning for my student
teaching, but that’s not the same…. WAY more fun!
Tech talk
This week
felt like such a short week for ICT! Mike showed us many different child-friendly/school
friendly apps that I still need to check out sometime. I thought that BookCreator and StoryBird
would definitely be something I look into at some point in my career. Of course, I will need time to play around
with them, but for some reason technology seems to be something I am more
willing to consider now….. hmmm wonder why….
I also liked Explain Everything – basically a white board on a tablet –
fun idea for kids to play around on and me to record simple lessons… maybe…
I am
disappointed that technology failed us to be able to have the conversation with
Kathy Cassidy, however, maybe next week it will work for us.
So,
Sphero… wow…. Darren is so mad at himself as he doesn’t have enough money right
now that he can buy one! I showed him
the videos that I took in class and he is super keen to have one! I don’t blame him. I think that there is a lot of learning that
can take place using it, including patience and trial-and-error! I am sure that we will have one in our house
before long and perhaps, the kids AND the cats will be entertained! I thought Eleni did a fantastic job
presenting these crazy little robots to us!
She was very prepared and her presentation was equally interesting and
informative! Thanks Eleni!
Til Week
8….
TTFN!
