A midweek
blizzard makes time go even faster!
Especially when I didn’t make it home… and how thankful I am to my
friend’s mom and dad for keeping me for all those days! So grateful. I am sure I would have been stuck on the
highway at Alexander had I decided to try and make it home. Soooo very thankful. So HUGE thanks Pete and Sheila!! Be prepared for more “blizzards” next year!
Hockey
talk…
Well
Darren’s team WON!!! Was so
exiting! The team pulled it together,
gave us a VERY good game, but won in the end.
Whew. The coaches would have LOST
it, had they lost! LOL Here’s a pic!
Currently
Darren is mid-way through the Pee Wee Provincials with the Hartney/Deloraine
Pee Wees. They played twice yesterday
and although they lost, they played very good games and did have more chances
to score, so it isn’t terrible! Had they
made their own provincials they would have played in the “C” division, so
placing 7 in the round robin at “B” Provincials, they are doing awesome! They
play in the consolation round at 12:30 tomorrow so hopefully they give us
another good game to watch.
Trevor is
up in Stonewall/Warren rinks for his provincials. They lost their first game and won the
second. Now they play tonight at 7:30 – did have the crazy thought that I would
have time to make it there to watch the game, but decided I should stay on the
smart side of being a “Hockey Mom!”
My final
and last Tech talk….
I am
amazed that this will be my last blog with my “Tech talk” addition! I learned so much about different apps,
programs, and other helpful tools to use in the classroom I am shocked! I tried to take good notes so I can go back
and figure out what exactly I learned, but I suppose if I actually read this
blog, it might tell me! There is method to Mike’s madness, I guess!
So this
week was a bit disappointing as we were supposed to Skype with Kathy Cassidy,
and I missed an opportunity to listen in to a conversation with her that Mike
set up. I got the email only minutes
before it was to happen and at the time I was still wifi-less, so it didn’t
work out for me. However, I still have
her fantastic book, follow her on twitter, and I have sent her a link so she
can watch my group’s “movie” about her book, so I am sure that I will be in
some sort of a conversation with her at some point in my “career.”
Otherwise
in class we learned snippets about the Smartboard in the classroom and some
different online tools to create “webs” which adds a fun way to make them as
opposed to the good old paper and marker!
Oh! And update!
Darren DID have enough money to buy a Sphero! Turns out we found one for $119! Right in his price range.
So my
reflection on this class…. Hmmmm…well….. just kidding! I enjoyed this class and I think that I have almost
conformed to being a techy teacher.
I will definitely be using some of the tools in my classroom. When I was out on my last placement, I did
plays with the kids. Now to switch it up…
I would video them in front of a green screen and put it all together with
maybe some voice over (but I would have to figure that out first) and then mix
it up and present the movies! How fabulous
would that be at their Graduation in 2028!
Soooo, maybe in my kindergarten experience in Souris, I will try
something like that… hmmm might also be mayhem, but will see!! The tech world is now at my fingertips!! So a big THANK YOU to Dr. Mike Nantais at
Brandon University in the Faculty of Education for the great experience!! I am very thankful.
TTFN
Connie
P.S. I may just fall into the Blog zone and may
keep it up… Maybe weekly updates of my placement? I don’t know…. Will see!!!

Yes - keep blogging - you will keep this reader! It was fun to read your weekly posts - and to be part of the journey to techy-ness! LOL All the best - and learn to code that Sphero!
