I must say that I think I am in love with Kindergarten! As I loved my job as a day care worker, I
feel that I am still there, but this time with the “BIG” kids! There is sooo much you can plan and do with
them where they “get” it as opposed to dealing with kids so much younger. The school that I am at has two full day
alternating classes with 26 kids in total.
So many different personalities within the two groups keep life
interesting to say the least! I am doing
one “lesson” next week with each group and I am super excited to do activities
with them!
I was also lucky enough to sit in on a children's writing meeting (I forget what it is actually called), a transition meeting for a
child that will be attending kindergarten next year, a non-crisis intervention
meeting and a teacher meeting where they all organize the times for families to
go to the parent-teacher interviews! Such
a learning week for me!
I have a fantastic CT who has been teaching kindergarten for a
number of years and is SO good with the kids.
After Day One, I knew that this time is going to fly by….
Hockey update!
Well, Darren’s Pee Wee team lost in the consolation final, but
they still played a very good game and tried their hardest, and to me, that
counts for something!
Trevor’s team lost in Provincials… well.. I think they won one and
lost one and lost again.
So now!!! ON TO SPRING
HOCKEY!!! Yay me. Darren plays for the
AAA Manitoba Steel with kids mostly from Brandon and Southwest Manitoba,
although there are a couple from the north that join us as well. Practices have now started and will be full
on until the end of May. We will be
going to Minneapolis, Winnipeg, and Calgary as well as hosting our own
tournament in Brandon sometime. I will
provide updates as the weeks progress!!
Trevor is involved in the Director’s Cup program though Hockey Manitoba. He has been practicing with his 2003
Southwest Manitoba team and they are off to Thompson on Friday for the
weekend. I guess they play 2 games and
have some skills competitions or something.
Unfortunately (or maybe not) I am staying home with Darren to have a
couple days at home and to take him to his hockey practices. Otherwise, he plays in Winnipeg the same
weekend as Darren is in Minneapolis and otherwise, I am not totally sure where
else he all goes… maybe just a Brandon tournament… Hmmm, I think a “good” mom
may know…. Or maybe not! lol
Soooo, I am going to close off this first blog of my student
teaching that I started on Saturday, and only finished tonight…. Maybe next
weekend I will be more “on time” – my goal is still Friday or Saturday… but I
guess today is Tuesday…. Time flies when you are having fun!!!
TTFN!
Connie
